Installing GeForce 621.01 has left some players with video that locks up or a display that blinks out for a moment. VideoCardz reported on 24 October that Nvidia has logged the fault and is asking affected users for diagnostic data, with no repair date announced.

Who is reporting the GeForce 621.01 fault
The cases gathered so far involve freezes while watching video in Chrome, Edge and VLC, and sometimes while running a game with browser video open. Complaints point heavily at the RTX 5080, with another logged on an RTX 4090, which does not establish that every card is exposed or how widely the bug spreads.
An Nvidia representative asked for crash dump files to support the investigation, according to the report. Some users say returning to driver 617.42 cleared the problem on their machines, though that remains an anecdote rather than a guaranteed fix. The distinction worth keeping is between software under review and a damaged card, because the report offers no evidence of hardware failure.
