Playden 0.7 makes Steam games easier to run on a modded PS5

A new build of Playden cuts the manual work out of running Steam games on a modified PlayStation 5. Version 0.7.0, published by developer Leo Lobato on 24 October, fetches the runtime kit on its own the first time the app starts, so a fresh install is a single folder copy.

According to the release notes, the controller no longer drops out when the PS5 overlay opens, and Stray now runs with default settings after pixel shaders were switched to Wave32, the mode the developer says stops the console freezing. Steam demos appear in the Library, beta builds are an opt in, and uninstalls show up in the Queue.

Updates come through the app itself. Moving from 0.6.0 pulls a 469 MB package and needs 8 GB of free console storage, and anyone on an older release has to reach 0.6.0 first. Sign in details, games, saves and game settings survive the update.

The caveat is larger than the feature list. Playden is alpha software that signs in to a real Steam account and reads and writes Steam Cloud saves, and it is not an official Valve store on the console. Important saves deserve a backup before anyone tries it.
