Dead Space Ishimura Patch lifts 0.1% lows by 176% in Wccftech test

A community mod is easing the stutter that has followed Dead Space Remake on PC since launch. Wccftech tested the Ishimura Patch from modder lukeman3000 and recorded a 176% gain in 0.1% lows, the figure that tracks the worst moments instead of average speed.

On a Core i7-14700K and a GeForce RTX 4090, across a traversal run of roughly 30 seconds, 0.1% lows climbed from 35.7 to 98.6 frames per second while the average moved only from 292.8 to 305.3, according to the outlet’s own measurements. 1% lows nearly doubled, from 83.9 to 157.6.

The patch attacks GPU memory allocation inside Frostbite, reserving large blocks and splitting them as needed instead of firing hundreds of small requests every frame. That is also why the result is narrow: one short route on one machine, on an early beta whose author warns of crashes and unexpected behaviour.

Wccftech hit one hard conflict, with the game crashing when Nvidia Smooth Motion ran alongside the patch, and urged caution with AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2. This is a Nexus Mods download rather than an EA update, so compatibility gaps are part of the package.
