A fan campaign to keep Mass Effect alive has passed 49,000 signatures, days after Electronic Arts closed BioWare and cancelled the next game in the series. The #SaveMassEffect petition on Change.org, opened by series fan Joe Smith on 21 October, carries 49,204 verified signatures.

More than 40,000 of those came in the previous 24 hours, according to the campaign’s figures, after confirmation that the studio behind the original trilogy was closing and that Mass Effect 5, in development since 2020, would not ship.
What the petition asks of EA
Organisers offer the publisher two routes: fund another Mass Effect with the money, time and staff needed to match the earlier games, or sell the intellectual property to a studio willing to carry it forward. The campaign says players care less about who owns the franchise than about it getting a second chance.
Hope rests partly on a leaked Mass Effect 5 trailer that showed real production progress before the project was scrapped, and on earlier reports that EA weighed selling the Mass Effect and Dragon Age rights. Neither is officially confirmed, and no studio has been named to take over.
