Helen Chiang, Xbox’s first chief operating officer, left Microsoft on 23 October after 21 years at the company. The Verge reported the exit from an internal memo it reviewed, noting that her direct responsibilities have been handed to other leaders on a temporary basis.

No cause given for the Xbox COO exit
Xbox chief Asha Sharma told staff in a short message that the shape of operations leadership would be announced once plans are settled. Microsoft did not describe the circumstances and thanked Chiang for her service, so there is no confirmed ground for calling the move a resignation or a dismissal.
The role itself is new, created in July during an Xbox restructure and given profit and loss responsibility across content, hardware, platform and services. Chiang had previously led Minecraft. Her departure reshuffles who runs those businesses, but it does not by itself cancel a console, a game or any feature of Xbox services.
