Xbox Series console sales in the United States fell 27 percent in September compared with the same month last year, while PlayStation 5 units rose 22 percent, according to Circana data that analyst Mat Piscatella published on 22 October.

Units and spending tell different stories
Nintendo Switch 2 units dropped 14 percent year on year and total console units sold slipped 3 percent. Piscatella described the Xbox result as its lowest September on record, a single month comparison rather than the platform’s weakest month of all time.
Spending moves another way. PS5 hardware revenue climbed 43 percent, Xbox Series revenue slipped 2 percent and Switch 2 revenue fell 12 percent. The 43 percent is money, not extra machines; the unit figure is the 22 percent.
These numbers cover one month in one market, so they say nothing about Arab sales or subscription totals. They also sit apart from the Xbox test of cloud play without Game Pass, and neither set settles how the wider business is performing.
